Abstract Aqueous two-phase extraction is an ecologically safe method for heavy metal recovery and regeneration from contaminated aqueous solutions. Investigation has been carried out experimentally the of lead solutions using Polyethylene Glycol 1500-Ammonium sulfate system. The extracting agent used sodium chloride. experiments Pb(II) have performed in batch mode according to central composite design under Response Surface Methodology. effect independent parameters as extractant concentration, initial salt solution pH, phase concentration on efficiency studied experimentally. results indicate that all three significant efficiency. A second-order polynomial model fit dependent variable experimental range parameters. maximum obtained about 51% atinitial pH 2.8, NaCl 49.9mmol/Land phaselead 9.8 mg/L. This agreement with experiment conducted at optimum conditions.
